There does not appear to be a Shogun data base out there on the internet anywhere. Below are some known dates of purchase with the serial numbers. Seems the Shogun serial numbers follow the general pattern of most Asian bicycles with the second digit or number indicating the year.
Two of my bodies have a second 'digit' that is a letter (C & D), as well as my X-T2 battery grip. I assume then the quarter is sometimes designated with letters A-D. But what's the deal with lens serial numbers? For six of my lenses (counting the 1.4xTC), the second digit is a number higher than 4 (5, 7 and 8), so they can't refer to a quarter.
Most of the Shogun bicycles were manufactured in the late seventies up to early nineties. At one point manufacturing shifted from Japan to Taiwan. There have been bikes seen that appear to have been built in the sixties but that has not been verified.
