Tinkers’ Tool Leveling Mod 1.12.2/1.11.2 gives your Tools XP, allowing them to level up. On levelup an extra modifier is rewarded. You get xp for doing whatever the tool was intended for, so breaking blocks with pickaxes, killing things with swords, etc.

They are listed below (and in the Materials and You book you receive in-game). Applying any of the below modifiers takes up one modifier slot, for which most tools have a default of three maximum.
You know back in the days, when you played GTA and used the cheat code for a tank, and then went on and caused mayhem? This mod is like that, except for tinker tools and the cheatcode takes longer to enter.
Tinkers Construct Leveling Mod
Note that swords get xp relative to the damage dealt when the entity is killed, not when the damage is dealt. You only get xp if the mob is killed.
Features:
- Set maximum amount of modifiers a new tool has after being built (default 3).
- Awards 1 free modifier per levelup.
- Each levelup requires twice the xp than the last.
- Currently no upper limit.
- Starting XP can be adjusted individually in the configs.

How to install:
- Make sure you have already installed Minecraft Forge and Tinkers’ Construct Mod.
- Locate the minecraft application folder.
- On windows open Run from the start menu, type %appdata% and click Run.
- On mac open finder, hold down ALT and click Go then Library in the top menu bar. Open the folder Application Support and look for Minecraft.
- Place the mod you have just downloaded (.jar file) into the Mods folder.
- When you launch Minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.

In Jaded Packs tools level up as you use them. In 1.7.10 different materials require different amounts of experience to level. A plastic tool (0.2) requires less XP than a Blue Slime tool (3.0).

In Jaded packs Tinkers' pickaxes require to be 'levelled' or 'boosted' before it can mine additional materials, this can be done by using the tool or adding a mob head to it. Below is a table illustrating the tool levelling tiers for Magic Farm 3 (correct as of 1.1.20.) While this is not a complete list of materials available, it represents the most 'logical' progression for the player.

Tinkers Tool Leveling Mod 1.7.10
- You don't need to use heads but it can be faster/easier than levelling your pick manually.
- Not all heads listed as useable in NEI appear to work, but the ones listed here definitely do.
- Steel can be made in 3 ways: smelting Chainmail armour, smelting Nether Pig Iron Ore or smelting Iron and Pulverised Coal in a Induction Smelter.
